Youth Group Blast

Dear Parents

What happens when you die? I’ve never done it, so I can’t tell you from first-hand experience, but I’ve heard quite a few stories from people who died and then came back. There was Ann, a woman from the last church I pastored. There was my dad’s friend who drowned. There’s the well-known account from the book and movie Heaven is For Real. And, of course, there are stories in the Bible like Lazarus, and even the puzzling story of the witch of En-dor and the spirit of Samuel. All of these can make it hard to know what’s true, but they point us to the same question: What really happens after you die?

This month much of the nation focuses on and celebrates the dead, the spooky, and the darker sides of life, but is there good news what happens when you die? YES! And to answer that, we’re going to the source of life and truth: the Bible. I look forward to studying with our students not only what really happens when you die, but the good news in it. As Seventh-day Adventists, we believe that when you die, you’re truly dead. While that may seem like a cold or sad reality, the truth is it’s far better for us than the alternatives.

I will be at Senior Survival this weekend helping CVA, so Joe Broy will be teaching. I won’t have cell service at Woodland Acres. If you need to reach me for anything, please leave a message and I’ll connect with you on Monday.

Connection Points

This week, I encourage you to spend a few minutes talking with your teenager about our lesson. Consider building your conversation around Genesis 2:7 and these questions:
•  What is something you love about being alive?
•  According to the text what are the two ingredients needed for a soul?
•  When you think about your loved ones that have died what gives you hope to carry on?

Have a great time exploring these topics. Thanks for your prayers and support!

Refocus - Everyone is looking for love, and this week Refocus will help Giovanna Souza do just that. We are running our Blind Date Refocus where Gio will blindly choose between 3 eligible bachelors and go on a special date. It will be a ton of fun and very entertaining. I hope your teen can join us.

Oxygen Youth Rally - October 17–19, 2025 @ Broken Arrow Ranch Sometimes our faith can feel stagnant—it’s time to breathe deep and be refreshed. Just like we can’t live without oxygen, we can’t thrive without God’s presence. Join us for a weekend to retreat, recharge, and reconnect with Him. Guest speaker Pastor Kane Kim (Anthem x Loma Linda University Church) will be sharing powerful messages to inspire and challenge us. Cost is $75 per student. And you can sign up by tapping HERE. Please let pastor Mic know if you register so he can coordinate vehicles. Registration closes October 13.

Bible Study Small Group - NO BIBLE STUDY THIS WEEK DUE TO SENIOR SURVIVALAlmost every Friday night Mic and Tori host a small group Bible study in their home from 7:15-9:00pm. This is a time for your teen to be able to ask questions about life, eternity, God, or really anything. We open up the Bible and dive in discovering what it means for us and our faith journey. This is one of the best things we do.
